One may often encounter hairball problems with cats. Undigested hair that builds up inside a cats body are called “cat hairballs”. There are only 2 ways for a cat to get rid of the hair caught inside – with the aid of the digestive system or coughing it out. Since cats have rough tongues which they use vigorously to clean their fur, their stomach collects dead hair in large quantities. It is common for hair to be processed through their digestive system and find its way out with other materials that “flows down the drain”. From time to time too much hair will pile up inside the body, blocking the paths in such a way that an alternative path must be used.

Cats with long fur a lot of times develop more hairballs than other cats. If a cat in now way can rid itself of cat hairballs through vomiting or through the digestive system, it could suffer from a blockage in the intestine or stomach. Left untreated for too long, it may be life-threatening. Without surgery, that blockage caused by a hairball could be deadly.

Cat hairballs are wide spread in felines and seem to be harmless, yet that is a false view. Cats and hairballs may seem to go together, yet some times complications happen. To minimize hairballs you can assist your cat with taking care of dead hair. First, brush your cat to strengthen the hair. Secondly, improve your cats eating habits. Feed it healthy food containing minerals that strengthen the hair and assist the digestive system with getting rid of the hair. Research different manufactures that produces such kind of food.

Special treats for your cats containing petroleum products can also help fighting cat hairballs. These petroleum-based treats help coat the tummy and digestive system for easier passage through the body. There are several methods to administer these petroleum-based treats. Some cats can be fed simply by spoon. With others, try putting some food on their snout hoping they will lick it off. If these methods fail, put some on their paws and watch them lick the treats off that way. If you follow this advice you will encounter the cats and hairballs phenomenon less and less.

Unfortunately cats and hairballs have strong ties. Hairballs can only be predicted once a cat starts retching and vomiting. One can only hope that the cat gets that blockage out without trouble. If the hairball does not come out, a cat could begin to develop symptoms of a stomach or intestinal blockage. Among the symptoms of blockage are hacking for more than twenty-four hours, lack of appetite and/or lack of body eliminations. If those symptoms show up, surgery is the only option to unblocking the pathways. Follow preventative measures, to minimize cat hairballs.

Buenos Aires is a hot tourist destination and has a great assortment of affordable, quality vacation apartment rentals which are a perfect alternative to traditional accommodations. Don’t make assumptions when renting a Buenos Aries vacation apartment. No matter how, or with whom, you book your Buenos Aires vacation rental consider these 10 tips.

1. Overnight flight Most flights from North America and Europe are overnight flights, arriving in Buenos Aires the next day. Be sure you know exactly when you will be checking in and checking out of your Buenos Aires vacation apartment. Exact arrival and departure dates are important because you will be signing a rental contract and breaking the contract may cost you.

2. Win-win discounts Requesting deep discounts when booking a Buenos Aires vacation apartment is not a good strategy. Most apartment owners and professional agencies will ignore aggressive offers because they have already competitively priced their property. The best approach is to establish a relationship with the rental agency or owner. Let them know what you want, and do not want, in a vacation rental. After you have built some trust, then approach the subject of discount, keeping in mind a “win-win” strategy for both renter and owner.

3. Enjoy your last day Make the most of your last day in Buenos Aires by booking a late check out. Standard check out time for Buenos Aires vacation apartment rentals is 10am to noon. Most North American and European flights depart Buenos Aires late at night, which means you don’t need to be at the airport until 6pm or later. Book a late check out and enjoy your apartment your entire last day. Keep in mind that Buenos Aires evening rush hour starts at 5:30pm and it takes about one hour to travel from your apartment to Ezeiza International Airport.

4. Don’t try this failed strategy “I’ll find the perfect apartment the morning I arrive in Buenos Aires!” It’s not likely to happen. This last minute strategy sends a message of disorganization and lack of seriousness to most Buenos Aires apartment rental agencies and property owners. And, why waste your first days searching for an apartment when you should be enjoying your vacation. It is difficult for rental agencies or apartment owners to show vacation rentals because the apartments are either occupied or have confirmed future reservations. Also, owners and agencies don’t like to take the time and expense of showing vacation rentals because of no-shows. Keep in mind too that Buenos Aires apartment rental agencies take Saturday and Sunday off.

5. Widen you search Are you going to spend every day of your vacation in just one neighborhood? Hopefully not! Don’t rule out other fine neighborhoods if you can’t find the Buenos Aires apartment you are looking for. Recoleta, Retiro and all of Palermo are safe, wonderful neighborhoods for tourists and businessmen. Palermo Soho deserves the favorable press it receives, but truth is other areas of Palermo, and all of Recoleta, offer a better selection of high quality vacation apartment rentals. So, widen your search to find the Buenos Aires apartment that is right for you.

6. The whole story Vacation apartment photographs tell the story, but not the whole story. Be careful with photographs that have been over edited. Ask the Buenos Aires vacation apartment rental agency or apartment owner this simple question, “Is what I see on the web site exactly what I will see when I walk in the door?” The answer may surprise you.

7. Do you PayPal? Many Buenos Aires rental agencies and apartment owners do not accept credit cards, and insist on wire transfers or cash payments. When it comes to personal identity, safety and ease of use PayPal is one of the best methods to pay the reservation deposit and rent. Ask your Buenos Aires apartment rental agency if they accept PayPal. This will protect both you and the apartment owner, and eliminate the need to travel with cash.

8. Stingy ATM’s “I’ll withdraw my rent from the ATM the morning I arrive in Buenos Aires”. No you won’t. Buenos Aires ATM’s are not generous in dispensing pesos, and even stingier with US dollars. The most you can withdraw from a Buenos Aires ATM is 300 to 500 pesos. Good luck with dollars; ATM’s in Buenos Aires are usually out of them.

9. Can I pay in pesos? All Buenos Aires vacation apartment rentals are priced in United States dollars. That’s the way Argentines do business. Your vacation apartment rental contract will be written in US dollars, not pesos. Traveler’s checks and personal checks are not accepted. So, when you check in, be prepared with the exact amount you owe in US dollars. Or better yet, pay in advance with credit card.

10. Go remis There is no train or subway service at Ezeiza International Airport. All authorized ground transportation companies at Ezeiza basically charge the same rates. Save yourself valuable time by reserving in advance a remis, which is a chauffeured car, to take you directly from the airport to your apartment. The cost is reasonable and generally runs US$32 for 2 adults. Ask your rental agency or apartment owner to book a remis for you. It takes about 2 hours from the time your plane lands to clear Immigration, claim your luggage, clear Customs and drive by remis to your Buenos Aires vacation rental.

Living in an apartment can be an experiment in efficiency and organization, since many apartment dwellers have almost as many belongings as those who live in houses but have significantly less space in which to store it all. This is often most evident in the kitchen, which tends to be one of the smaller parts of the apartment in order to give more room to the living room and bedrooms. Many landlords will also limit the amount of customization that you can do to the apartment itself, meaning that you are not likely to get new cabinets in place any time soon. This does not mean that you are without options for kitchen storage, of course; the more efficient your use of kitchen storage is, the more use you will be able to get out of the kitchen as a whole.

Here are some tips to help you find the kitchen storage space that you need without the ability to make drastic changes to the kitchen or the apartment. Keep in mind that while the terms of your lease may limit what you can do in regards to the walls and cabinets, stand-alone storage solutions fall under the category of furniture and may be freely used in almost all apartment situations.

Pegboards and Wall Storage

Though you may not be able to make major changes to the kitchen of your apartment, most landlords are not opposed to a few nails and screws being put into the walls. Use this to your advantage to create wall storage solutions for a number of your cooking utensils that you are likely to use often. Place a pegboard on the wall to keep from having to use multiple nails, with only two to four nails holding the entire board in place. Once you have it mounted you can add numerous pegs that can hold measuring spoons, spatulas, and any other small items that you are likely to use often. Not only will this make them accessible but it will also free up room in your drawers and cabinets for other items.

Store Dishes in another Room

A number of decorative furniture pieces are designed to hold dish settings. Take advantage of items such as these and get some or all of your dishes out of your kitchen cabinets. If you have a separate dining area then you should have the majority of your plates and silverware located there; even if you do not there is no reason that you cannot have a decorative hutch or dish display case along the living room wall that is closest to the kitchen. This can be especially beneficial if you have a nice set of dishes that you would not mind showing off, since you will be freeing up room in your kitchen while also beautifying another room in a unique way.

If Cabinet Space Is Lacking, Supply Your Own

While you most likely will not be able to actually add new cabinets to your apartment’s kitchen, making use of multi-drawer plastic storage containers can be the next best thing. Depending on the size of the container you can place them either in the floor or near the corner of a counter, giving you quite a bit of storage space in what would otherwise have been open air. Microwave carts can be employed in much the same way, letting you use the shelving underneath for storage while also giving you a solid surface on which to place your microwave or another small appliance. The creative use of containers such as these can also let you extend your kitchen area slightly if you place the drawers or storage containers on just the other side of the kitchen door in a much more open room; the contents of the container will still be easily accessible while you are cooking but will not be in the way like it would if you tried to make it fit in the much smaller kitchen area.

Organize with Containers

In addition to larger storage containers which can be used to add cabinet-like spaces to your kitchen, smaller containers can be used to make more efficient use of the cabinet space that you already have. Buy square plastic containers that are clear in order to fill much more of your cabinets than you would normally be able to, and do not be afraid to stack containers on top of each other if you have the room. Empty bulky packages of cereal, flour, and other kitchen supplies into airtight containers to not only make storage easier but to keep the contents fresh for longer as well. Use bins and boxes underneath the kitchen sink to help keep cleaning supplies organized with the added benefit of being able to pull them all out at once should you need them for major apartment cleaning.
